What Is A Subluxation?

                   Falling               Being Stressed

A vertebral subluxation is a term used to describe the loss of normal position and/or motion of the spine. This loss of spinal motion creates extra stress and strain on the spinal joints, muscles and ligaments. Vertebral subluxations can eventually impair proper nerve functioning and the overall health and wellness of the individual. There are three main causes of vertebral subluxations; physical trauma (repetitive motions, car accidents, slips and falls), emotional stress (worrying, fear and negative thoughts), and chemical imbalances (alcohol, drugs, and other toxins). Pain, tenderness, inflammation, decreased spinal motion, and muscle spasm will eventually follow. Additionally, because of the direct mechanical and physiological relationship between the spinal column and the spinal nerve roots, vertebral subluxations can eventually impair proper nerve functioning and the overall health and wellness of the individual.

The Chiropractor can detect the subluxations in the spine by analyzing your posture, taking diagnostic X- rays, measuring your ability to turn and move "range of motion", and other neurological tests.

There is a number of signs and symptoms that are commonly associated with a vertebral subluxation. You can tell when you have a possible vertebral subluxation when you have any or all of these following possible signs and symptoms:

~ Neck pain, tenderness, soreness and stiffness
~ Back Pian, tenderness, soreness and stiffness
                            ~ Headaches
                            ~ Dizziness or balance problems
~ Spinal muscle spasms, tightness or weakness
